In Memory: Mary Thompson
HCCA is very sad to announce that former HCCA president Mary Thompson passed away on December 6, at the age of 86. As our president from 1996-2003, Mary saw the organization through a very difficult transition. After 70 years, the national Community Concerts organization suddenly dissolved in 2003, leaving HCCA and over 400 other concert presenters in the lurch. Because of Mary’s prudent and calm leadership, we were able to weather this storm, financially and organizationally, becoming a successful independent presenter.
Mary served diligently on the HCCA Board both before and after her presidency, and was an unflagging booster and supporter of our concerts. Her elegance and gentle warmth will be deeply missed by all. She cared passionately about music and education, and her dedication to our mission will guide us forward, with gratitude.
Donations in her memory can be made to the HCCA Music Education Fund.

Memorial service to be held Saturday, January 13, 2 p.m., at Miller-Jones Mortuary, 1501 W. Florida Ave., Hemet CA.
