Hemet Community Concert Association’s 36th season of presenting world-class music will conclude with the dynamic young La Catrina String Quartet from Mexico. They will perform on Sunday, April 19, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. at the First Southern Baptist Church in Hemet. Praised by The Los Angeles Times for their “youthful energy and mature artistry,” the quartet mixes Latino composers with traditional masterworks. Their bilingual fluency enriches our culture and reaches audiences of diverse backgrounds.

HCCA offers this concert as a free bonus to new subscribers to our 2009-10 Season, which will open in September with the Trinity Choir of Cambridge University, from England. We are thrilled to be able to bring this superb group of 35 “choral scholars” to the San Jacinto Valley! The season will continue with the Butch Thompson Trio in a program of ragtime and early jazz favorites; acclaimed pianist Dan Franklin Smith; chamber music by Mozart and Beethoven; and the Westwind Brass Quintet.

In order to bring quality artists to our community, we need a robust subscriber base, so we do everything possible to encourage subscribers.

  • Subscriptions are available for $50.00 – which means that early subscribers get 6 concerts for that $50.00! Where else can you get concerts like this for $10.00 each, parking included? And you don’t even have to get on a freeway!
  • Children through age 16 are always admitted free, and students age 17-21 can subscribe for half price - $25.00.
  • If someone you refer to us becomes a subscriber, we will thank you with a complimentary ticket to any one concert of your choice in the upcoming season.
  • Individual ticket prices, available only at the door on concert days, are $25.00 each. However, subscribers will be able to purchase them at the reduced price of $20.00. That’s another advantage for our subscribers!

We are very fortunate to have the First Southern Baptist Church in Hemet as our venue – the acoustics are superb, the seating is generous and comfortable, the piano is a fine Yamaha concert grand – and parking is free! The First Southern Baptist Church is located at 433 S. San Jacinto St. in Hemet.

HCCA’s Board of Directors is determined to continue this great value regardless of economic conditions. Community Concerts flourished in the 30's despite the stock market crash of 1929 and the resulting Depression. At the time of the crash there were 42 Community Concert Associations in America; yet, by 1940, there were 335. Obviously, these concerts were regarded as much more than mere entertainment; they were a lifeline to humanity, sanity, and normalcy. Food for the soul was – and still is – as important as food on the table.

Hemet Community Concert Association is a non-profit, all-volunteer managed organization dedicated to presenting the best of the performing arts to the residents of the San Jacinto Valley. We believe that live concerts are an essential part of any community’s cultural landscape. We hope you will join Hemet Community Concert Association and enjoy these beautiful concerts with us!
